About Julia Barry, MFT, SEP, in Boston, Massachusetts

Julia uses her expertise and compassionate and empathetic nature to provide quality counseling services to clients in the Greater Boston area.

Julia completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University after receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Julia trained for two years at the Women’s Clinic and Family Counseling Center in Los Angeles where she worked with adult individuals and couples.  During her time at the Women’s Clinic, Julia received supervision utilizing several psychological modalities, including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral and Somatic Experiencing® approaches. Additionally, Julia received training at the Well Baby Center leading Mindful Parenting Groups, as well as providing psychotherapy to adult individuals, couples, families and mother/infant pairs with an emphasis on psychodynamic and psychoanalytic training. Julia continued to pursue further training in a variety of modalities, including:

Julia uses evidence-based psychotherapy methods tailored specifically to each client in order to provide quality, dedicated care with an emphasis on healing. Her clinical specializations include:

Julia’s work is informed by an interest in mind/body psychotherapy, combining her training with over 15 years of yoga and mindfulness practice. Julia holds a 500-Hour Yoga Instructor Certification from YogaWorks.  She is certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner®, an EMDRIA approved EMDR practitioner and consultant and enjoys assisting and providing personal sessions to students in the Somatic Experiencing Professional Training and consultation to EMDR practitioners for EMDRIA certification.
