Julia Barry, MFT, SEP, has worked in a variety of clinical settings, and understands the complex nature of psychotherapy. She uses her compassion and empathetic nature to provide quality counseling services to clients in Southern California.
Julia completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University after receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Julia continued to pursue her psychotherapy training in a variety of fields, including:
Julia combines her extensive psychotherapy training with over 15 years of yoga practice and training, which centers on mindfulness and body awareness. Julia holds a 500-Hour Yoga Instructor Certification from YogaWorks.
Julia Barry fosters a safe, supportive space where her clients can work toward successful resolution and healing from past traumas. Informed by an interest in mind/body psychotherapy, she is certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner®. During her time at the Women’s Clinic and Family Counseling, Julia received supervision utilizing several psychological modalities, including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral and Somatic Experiencing® approaches. Additionally, Julia received training at the Los Angeles Well Baby Center leading Mindful Parenting Groups, as well as providing psychotherapy to adult individuals, couples, families and mother/infant pairs with an emphasis on psychodynamic and psychoanalytic training.
